SKYDADDY & TYLER CRYDE TEAR GAS

The Crypt studio is hosting the premier ofTear Gas’ and before sitting down to live score the accompanying film Rachid Fakhre, AKA Skydaddy, explains that “Tear Gas began life in 4/4”. Starting as a song about an empty canister found in Calais in 2016, ‘Tear Gas’ was adapted and reworked by Tyler Cryde before becoming the score to a beautiful short film by Jasper Cable-Alexander. The film depicts “two humanoids in the tangle of toxic love” and as classical guitar ripples Fakhre and Cryde’s vocals sweetly interweave. “I’ve got the cruellest intentions” sings Cryde, strings in bittersweet accompaniment. Pre-empting the release of mini-album Pilot on February 2nd, ‘Tear Gas’ is an expert composition. Through tension and release, separation and harmony, ‘Tear Gas’ serves as a romantic ode to the noxious effects of love. -Adam Brown
